Mk1, since no Hordes Mk2 yet

Map Guidelines here!

After a few weeks of hiatus on playing at Fortress, the boys stormed in on the LGS for some summer-heated gaming!

[Mk2] The Dark Prince against the Iron Lich

With the print outs for Mk2 Field Test, Fred and I decided to see what the fuss was all about. I was too lazy to make a new list so I brought what I've been using for the past few weeks. I guess in Mk2, we decided to use 25 PC only since I didn't bring enough stuff - which meant that Master Holt and the Ugly Ampersand would just have to sit on the side lines this time around.

Fred got to play using the Deathjack and Asphyxious' Cankerworm, plus a pair of Pistol Wraiths, a Skarlock, Slughterborn and Tartarus. I had Drago, Great Bears of Gallowswood, Greylord Ternion, Eiryss, Widowmakers and Fenris.

I wanted to see if I can pull a Blood Boon Signs and Portents after a Blood of Kings charge, but there weren't that many warrior models on the table then. With Break the Line scenario on, and playing against a veteran player, I really didn't feel any significant change with Mk2. My Great Bears got to break the Deathjack and the Cankerworm, which pretty much made them MVPs again. Fenris and Drago got to Tartarus and Slaughterborn, but with Fred's crappy rolls, I got the win on my second turn.

pVlad vs Hexeris

Cholo, a relatively new Skorne player, was at Fortress that day with 350 points worth of warbeasts (a Titan Cannoneer, Rhinodon and one of the froggies) led by Lord Tyrant Hexeris. I faced him with pVlad, Drago, the Great Bears, Greylords and Lord Holt and the Ugly Ampersand. He got to break all three Great Bears after I dropped the Wind Wall turtle, but I got to his two big beasts, too. I had Blood of Kings on Vlad, which stepped up, gave the finishing blow on a warbeast, and camped on his remaining four focus. I guess it was the first time he matched against BOK Vlad, Hexeris' blows not even hitting the Khadoran with his boosted attacks.

"Master Kreoss" Bogs faced Cholo after our match, and decided to go all warjacks against his all warbeasts build. Bogs used Reznik, Fire of Salvation, Repenter and Revenger; Cholo used the same list. Bogs managed to put down the Cannoneer early.

When asked by Kim Navarro (PG shink1m) and Kei Valentin on how he got rid of the Cannoneer, Bogs replied, "I'm that good!" A remarkable accomplishment indeed, as his heavy hitters seemed further up from the swirling melee.

But when he went for the kill, his dice turned against him and gave him nothing but low rolls. Cholo snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by bringing down the High Executioner with the Lord Tyrant!

March of the Exemplars

After a hiatus from gaming, Lesther fought against his old buddy, Friedrich, in an impromptu match at Kei's place. With a family event ongoing, Kei setup his 4x4 plywood board on his bed, just so we got some WMH gaming, too! WMH game with AC and good grub, can't get any better than that.

Les used pKreoss, two Devouts, a Guardian, a Seneschal, and two squads of Knights Exemplar. Friedrich used Karchev, Behemoth, Devastator, Kodiak and a War Dog.

Friedrich surged forward with the textbook Tow opening with his warjacks. Les used Karchev's Eruption to kill two of his Exemplars in both units, to bump up their fighting capability significantly, while jockeying for position in No Man's Land. With Lamentation on, Friedrich could not rely on Unearthly Rage, plus two Devouts and their Defensive Strikes on the Behemoth not only knocked some boxes off, but also reduced it to MAT 1! But with perseverance, Karchev broke the Guardian and got very close to Kreoss. Going for a last hurrah (and maybe an achievement point), Kreoss stepped up and tried to break the Behemoth but to no avail.

Venue: Kei's
Pointage: 500 points No Man's Land
Territory: Eastern Khador
Result: Karchev wins over Kreoss via forfeit
