Privateer Press announces price increase

From Privateer Press

Over the past four years that Privateer Press has produced miniatures, the price of our metal materials has nearly doubled, including a 50% increase in the last 12 months. While we diligently monitor the cost of the metal and price our new products appropriately, the miniatures we released in the first couple of years cost so much in metal that we can no longer afford to continue producing them at their original price. We’ve gone to great lengths to not raise prices. We have purchased more efficient equipment, bought metal in bulk, and continually train our staff in an effort to create a more efficient production process. With the drastic rise in tin prices over the last year, such efforts are simply not enough to keep producing products priced at 2003 prices. In order to continue the production of certain items we must adjust their MSRP to reflect the current materials prices, which constitutes the largest portion of their manufacturing cost. Below you can see a graph from the London Metal Exchange displaying the rise in tin prices since January of 2003. (http://www.lme.co.uk/) In 2003, the price of tin was $2.87 per pound. Our most recent order of metal cost $5.67 per pound, a 98% increase in four years.

As of January 1, 2007, a significant number of the models found in the WARMACHINE: Prime and WARMACHINE: Escalation product releases, as well as a select few models post-dating Escalation, will receive an increase to their MSRP. No HORDES models will be adjusted. Here is a complete list of the affected models.

We hope that the necessity of this adjustment is understandable and look forward to the continued support of the many WARMACHINE players, retailers, and distributors who have helped WARMACHINE grow over the past four years. You may send your questions and comments to frontdesk@privateerpress.com

Brass Balls Anyone?

Time to take names and beat up on one another yet again. We've had more than a year of fun gaming, maybe its time we up the ante a bit and see who in our little gaming community is representative of the tagline: "Play like you've got a pair!"

Each player must have a single 500pt detachment and the detachment must be commanded by a Warcaster or Warlock from his faction. A WARMACHINE player may also include mercenary units, solos and mercenary warjacks under the control of a mercenary jack marshall in the detachment. A Hordes player may likewise field minion units and solos. Players must follow all field allowance rules when constructing their detachment.

The registration fee is 250php. A minimum of eight (8) registered players will be needed and the top two (2) players will duke it out for the title of Brass Balls Champ! There will be seven rounds of gaming to be finished in the span of four (4) weeks. A player may choose whom he will face after the 1st round of gaming. The match-ups for the first round of gaming will be determined by the Tournament Organizer (Arvin Tan of Fortress). A player may fight an opponent only once during the four-week game period.

Official games can be held at Hobby Haven, the Fortress and at UP-CFA(during the regular IPMS-bac Saturday build sessions). A minimum of one (1) other registered participant must be on-hand to serve as witness to the game(s).

Players must take note of the victory points gained in the last battle. The amount of victory points gained will determine initiative order for their next games. The player with higher comparative points will determine who will go first.

Models must be FULLY assembled and mounted on their respective bases. Fully-painted AND based detachments will recieve a bonus of five (5) victory points at the end of the 1st round. Proxies are not allowed.

We will post a list of all participants and their respective contact information for the convenience of all. It will be up to the players to contact their respective opponents and set when and where their scheduled match-up would be.

Prizes will be subject to how many participants there are but as the tournament name suggests, I'll owe the winner a P3 Brass Balls paint pot, to be claimed when available. Aside from the paint pot, the tournament prize can be claimed as store credit in Hobby Haven.

Lets end the year with a bang, guys!

"If the fight is easy, you're not challenging up the ladder."
